Kathy Diehl, originally from Rochester, NY, began her professional dance career as a founding company member of Rochester City Ballet (formerly Draper Dance Theater) under the artistic direction of Timothy Draper. Kathy has danced with Bill Evans Dance Company, Present Tense Dance, Biodance, and Anne Burnidge and Dancers. She has also performed works by Larry Keigwin, Mariah Maloney(Trisha Brown), Marina Mascarell, Paul Selwyn Norton, Doug Varone, Mark Morris, Heidi Latsky, Eran Hanlon, and José Limón and has appeared as a guest artist with Heather Roffe (Garth Fagan, Futurpointe Dance), and Jenny Showalter/ Lyndsey Vader(Treeline Danceworks). Highlights of her performance career include the opportunity to perform at Jacob's Pillow for two summers as a member of the Bill Evans Dance Company and performing her choreographic work in Scotland during the Fringe Festival. She has choreographed works for several universities including The College at Brockport, Cleveland State University, Idaho State University, Webster University, and Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Her choreography has been presented internationally and nationally at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, RADfest, Body Logic Festival, American Dance Guild Festival, WAXworks, Rochester Contemporary Dance Collective, Northwest Regional ACDA, Somatic Dance Conference and Performance Festival, Fort Worth Contemporary Dance Festival, Body-Mind Centering Conference, and The Brockport Alumni Showcase. In March 2019, she was honored to have her work, Inner Workings, presented during the ACDA Gala Concert at University of Utah. And in June 2019, she received the top honor for choreography for her work Triangulation from the Body Logic Festival in Salt Lake City, UT. Kathy earned an MFA in Performance and Choreography from The College at Brockport and also holds an MSW from Case Western Reserve University. She began her teaching career in 1995 when she was asked to join the faculty at Draper Center for Dance Education. She has been an Assistant Professor at Cleveland State University, a full-time Visiting Professor at Hobart and William Smith Colleges and Webster University and a lecturer at The College at Brockport, Nazareth College, and University of Rochester. In Fall 2017, Kathy began her appointment as Assistant Professor and Director of Dance in the Department of Theatre and Dance at Idaho State University.
